Delayed email delivery - Why is my Email slow?

Delayed email delivery is a common issue often caused by spam protection mechanisms, server configuration bottlenecks, or DNS issues. Because email is designed to be resilient rather than instantaneous, delays can range from a few minutes to several hours, particularly when incoming mail is processed by spam filters or greylisting. 

If you are using the POP3 protocal on your Email client or on your cell phone,  there are configuration settings for frequency of checking ranging from every 5 minutes to once an hour.  Check your configuration

Gmail app uses the IMAP protocol which instantly syncs your email box therefore email will appear faster on your phone.  Some Email apps on your phone may have the option to be set up with IMAP
